The third of three films released in successive years for which Meryl Streep was nominated for the Best Actress Oscar after The French Lieutenant's Woman (1981) and Sophie's Choice (1982). As of 2018, this is the only time she was nominated for an Oscar after being nominated the previous two years. She won Best Actress for Sophie's Choice.
