Plutonium, with a yield of 19 kilotons per kilogram, and the bomb on board having 5.2 kilograms of plutonium, the constructed bomb has a theoretical yield of 98.8 kilotons. The Fat Man bomb dropped on Nagasaki contained 6.2 kilograms of plutonium and yielded only 20 kilotons, but with better technology and design refinements, the terrorists probably got substantially more than 20 kilotons (but nowhere near the "ideal" 98.8 kilotons).

Third and final [to date, September 2013] of three collaborations of all the three lead cast together in the one movie, they being Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito. DeVito and Turner also both appeared in The Virgin Suicides (1999) whilst DeVito appeared in both of the Douglas produced The Rainmaker (1997) and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975). Douglas and DeVito also both starred in Solitary Man (2009).

According to director Danny DeVito the first assembled cut of the film ran 3 hours and 4 minutes. It was then cut down to its final length of 1 hour and 56 minutes.
