Like most movies released in Hong Kong during that time, its original soundtrack is dubbed in Mandarin, not Cantonese. The Cantonese soundtrack was dubbed several years later when Cantonese became the predominant language used in the Hong Kong movies in the 1980s.

At around 1:16 ,in the cat fight with the cobra scene, as the cat emerges from behind the wooden ladder,a twine tethered to the cat is visible. As the cat tries to run away, the twine stretches taught. This might explain why the cat would stay and fight the cobra, rather than run away. This would not be the first time a tethered animal is forced to fight a cobra in Hong Kong kung fu movies, as a monkey is seen tethered in the animal fight scene in The 36th Chamber: The Final Encounter (1981), starring Chia-Hui Liu.

The soundtrack uses/steals (uncredited) one of John Barry's songs from You Only Live Twice (1967) once, as well as the end of "The Last Battle" from John Williams' Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) soundtrack several times. The tense last several bars before the Death Star's destruction appears at least four times in the film.

At around 1:22, while filming a sword fight, Jackie Chan's arm was accidentally slashed by a sword. He went on fighting, and the footage appears in the film.
