Alan Howarth's score was redone when the film went through reshoots.

Although the Jamie Lloyd character is killed in the beginning, she is not played by Danielle Harris. And Jamie Lee Curtis does appear briefly in the opening of Halloween: Resurrection (2002).

An early version of Jamie's death has her stabbed with a knife and not with farm equipment. The Producer's Cut has extra scenes with Jamie at the hospital. The doctors remove the knife from her body. Later Jamie lies unconscious on the hospital bed. She has flashbacks of her impregnation during a ritual conducted by Man in Black and his associates. It is strongly implied that Michael Myers impregnated her to pass on the curse. As Jamie is dreaming the Man in Black walks inside the room and remarks that her work is done. He eventually shoots her to death.

The producers of the movie wanted Brian Andrews to reprise his role as Tommy Doyle from the original Halloween. However, Andrews did not have an agent, so they could not get in contact with him. He regrets missing the opportunity, especially Farrands as he wanted him to have a cameo in the film. Specifically, he wanted Andrews to play the train station counter agent.

The man in black's arrival at the Strode's house was originally written as a POV shot similar to young Michael's introduction in the original Halloween. Like many of the slower, spookier scenes from Farrands' script it was cut on the day of shooting.
