Selby realizes that Aileens murder spree is going out of control. She makes a tough decision to cooperate with the police in getting Aileen arrested. She testifies in court against Aileen and Aileen is sentenced to death. Aileen and Selby never spoke again.

Sulley and Boo's relationship is possibly based on Baloo and Mowgli in The Jungle Book (1967) and just like how Mowgli runs away from Baloo because he is forced to go to a man village Boo avoids Sulley after he accidentally scares her when doing a mock roar for Mr. Waternoose. Sulley is also similar to Baloo in appearance as he looks like a bear except he has horns and a long tail and is about the same height and bulk as Baloo. Plus 'John Goodman' voiced Baloo in The Jungle Book 2 (2003) and in that film Baloo scares a older girl named Shanti much like Sulley scared Boo who is a younger girl.

In the German dubbing of the film, the Abominable Snowman speaks the Swabian dialect, which is mostly spoken in southwestern Germany, and makes a reference to wishing he had been banished to the Swabian Alps where he has friends.

At one point, when Sulley got his final design, he was going to wear glasses. But the glasses were taken off in order to show more of his eye expressions.

At the beginning when Mike and Sulley are walking to work Mike says "you've been jealous of my good looks since the 4th grade...", but the prequel Monsters University (2013) tells us Mike and Sulley didn't actually meet until college. This means Mike was probably joking.
