Keanu Reeves says that Halle Berry was "100 percent committed" to the training for this movie. She not only had to learn martial arts and weapons, but also how to train dogs because her character has two Malinois. The film's dog trainer told Reeves, "they treat Halle as their trainer now." This is important because when working with animals, the trainer is normally just out of frame giving the commands; but because Berry could command the dogs herself, it gave the filmmakers much more freedom in terms of how the scenes were shot.

Keanu Reeves was asked if he did his own stunts when John Wick was hit by the cars and he responded by saying, "Well, I would've, but you know, hospital. I could've maybe done it once, but that would've been it for me."

Lance Reddick is cast as "Charon" in all three John Wick films. In Greek and Roman mythology, "Charon" is "The Boatman"; after death, he took one's soul across the River Styx to the "Gates of Judgement".
