The final fight scene around the town square in Jackson took two days to film, closing the streets during the busy June tourist season. Merchants around the square were not happy, and many were compensated mainly for their signage showing up on film. Others because of complaints for losing customers. The fight scenes used up to three hundred local extras at times for background. Some well-known locals with quick cameos included Jerry Spence, the famous trial lawyer, Jackson's morning D.J. Skip Mahoney, amongst others. It was reported that tourism to Jackson Hole went up thirty percent after this movie was released the following summer.
