Following Biggs' departure, Leo was temporarily recast by Dominic Catrambone for the last 7 episodes (nonetheless, Leo sounded very similar). From Seasons 3 to 5, Seth Green assumes the role. The change in Leo's voice is explained by the character having wounded his vocal chords (after recovering from his single-handed battle with the villains in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Invasion: Part 1 (2014) & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Invasion: Part 2 (2014))

In any episode where something is mutated, usually the last thing that they touch is what they mutate into. For instance, the human Hamato Yoshi stepped on a rat's tail, and so mutated into the rat humanoid Splinter; his sons the Turtles, were normal turtles who turned humanoid because Hamato Yoshi touched them.

This is the second time that Michelangelo has said "That was us" during the flashback of the Turtles' origins, at the point where we see the Turtles before being mutated. The first time was in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990).

Rob Paulsen was amazed that the show producers approached him to do another Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show, because he thought he may be too old for a new one. "It didn't occur to me that the people making this latest iteration of the show grew up watching everything I did. So when they said, 'Would you like to read for Donatello?' I said, 'Absolutely, but I'm fifty-five years old", and it didn't bother them, I was the one that had a problem with it.' So it was a great lesson for me."

From the third season on, Seth Green replaced Jason Biggs as the voice of Leonardo. Interestingly enough, Green frequently parodies Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on his show Robot Chicken (2005).

In a few episodes, Michelangelo (Greg Cipes) can be heard saying "Go ninja! Go ninja! Go!" This is a reference to the Vanilla Ice song featured in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (1991).
