  • William's name is from the Old Norman form Williame, corresponding to the French spelling Guillaume, and is a cognate from the German Wilhelm, and of Germanic origin: wil = "will or desire". Given that William's "appetite for destruction" was insatiable, it is an appropriate name. It has never been revealed whether William or Marcus is the older twin and if they are fraternal or identical twins. Before his mutation or transformation into the first Werewolf/Lycan, William, along with his twin brother Marcus, is the first born Immortal in the Underworld franchise. William's human form is never shown in the films; however, since he and Marcus are twin brothers, it is likely they were identical before William's transformation, meaning William's natural hair color would be red. William is the only Werewolf/Lycan in the main canon with white fur and eyes; all other Werewolves/Lycans have black fur and black eyes. William is the only Werewolf/Lycan that proved to be a challenge for Michael Corvin, who would typically kill Werewolves/Lycans with ease. It would not be a stretch to assume that, had William been well-fed and nourished prior to their encounter, he might have been able to defeat Michael. It is likely that William was capable of entering a state of suspended animation or hibernation that is similar, but superior to those of Vampire Elders. This is shown by lower Lycans who lost their furs due to constant starvation, and Vampire Elders who became desiccated from blood fasting and require hours of blood infusion to regain their strength. By comparison, William showed no signs of physical deterioration or loss of furs from his long imprisonment, which implies he was perfectly preserved. William was the first Immortal whose victims turned or transformed after they died. In the novelization of Underworld: Evolution, Selene deduces that despite his savage nature, William must possesses great cunning as he managed to evade the original Death Dealer army for 600 years. William is the only character that participated in the final battle of Underworld: Evolution who was not hybridized or given enhanced powers from the blood of another Immortal species. Of all known immortal children and descendants (either born or turned) of Alexander Corvinus, William is the only one that has never been turn into a hybrid. William's actor, Brian Steele, appears as an enslaved Werewolf/Lycan in Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. GalleryEdit

  • In the first cut of the movie that was put together sometime around spring of 2005, and which didn't include almost all of the visual and CGI effects, didn't have proper sound mixing, and which was said to be over two hours long, the sex scene between Michael and Selene was longer, and it included more nudity from Kate Beckinsale. The scene also included a part where right after Selene has an orgasm (this is the part where scene stops and fades to black in final version of it) she gets on top of Michael and they continue to make love. Reportedly, this part was cut right after the rest of the scene was heavily edited because of Beckinsale's demands not to include any shot that would show her completely nude. The scene was filmed with her and Scott Speedman being fully nude, which is why it required some big cuts during later editing. This also explains use of fade outs in between the shots of the scene and some bad edits of it.However, because of these reasons, a later part of the scene where Selene is on top of Michael and they continue to have sex until she has another orgasm couldn't be re-edited to look proper, which is why it hit the cutting room floor. But, if the later scene where Marcus stabs Selene and starts drinking her blood and seeing her memories is slowed down (this scene takes place about an hour into this movie), one or two single frame shots can be seen which show a bit more nudity from Selene and her starting to get on top of Michael. These shots were part of the original sex scene, and were accidentally left in during editing.Director Len Wiseman said in the commentary for the theatrical cut of the movie recorded in 2006 how there were some scenes that were deleted from the movie and how there might be an extended version of this movie released sometime after the DVD release, just like the first movie had, but that never happened. He also mentioned in some interviews when the movie was released in theaters how the original cut almost got an NC-17 rating, mostly due to the level of violence and gore, but it was also hinted that one of the other reasons why the original version of the sex scene between Michael and Selene was cut down is because that scene alone would probably earn the movie an NC-17 rating.
