Arrived at my Nanna’s for Xmas who we very nearly lost this year. The house she lives in is wall to wall packed with the same things I’ve grown up with. They’ve crossed the oceans back and forth. She’s kept everything. Literally everything. Nothing is thrown away. (See background!!) She’s repaired all of it nine times over. The drawers are bursting with all kinds of things. Surfaces cluttered with pictures and notes and plants and so on... it took 4 people to clear space to chop the veggies. The fridge, don’t get me started!! We all fear we might be poisoned... expiration dates from far too long ago. “You don’t need an expiration date... I’m 94 years and my nose got me here!!” She’s absolutely right. Respect!! Us fussy folk who get caught up in the disposable/ consumerist world might be clean and tidy but are in danger of leaving this planet having made a complete mess of it and a tad too early!! #listentoyourgrannies #theyknowbetter #somanymemories Merry Xmas to all xxx
