Alice (Meg Ryan) sobers up and returns home to her daughters and husband Michael (Andy Garcia). As she tries to redefine her life outside of drinking, their marriage deteriorates and they separate.

Time passes, they get their lives back together, and Alice and Michael fall back in love with each other.
