Deadpool 2 ending explained (spoilers)

  • Since the events of the first film, Deadpool/Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) has been spending his time bloodily killing crime gangs and drug cartels with the help of his taxi driver friend Dopinder (Blind Al) who has been considering entering the contract killer business (much to Deadpool's chagrin). However Deadpool's happiness comes to an end when his partner Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) is shot dead by the leader of one of the cartels in revenge before he himself is killed.

Unable to see a reason to keep on living, Deadpool decides to blow himself up. He succeeds but still lives, with his parts retrieved by Colossus (Stefan Kapii) and taken to the X-Mansion where he recovers and encounters Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) and her girlfriend Yukio (Shioli Kutsuna). Deadpool reluctantly agrees to join the X-Men as a trainee with their first assignment being to retrieve a boy called Russell (Julian Dennison) with mutant powers who is causing an incident at his school. Russell, who calls himself Firefists due to his ability to project fire from his hand, shows signs of being abused by the headmaster (Eddie Marsan) and the staff so Deadpool decides to screw the rules and shoots dead one of the men responsible. Colossus is disgusted and kicks Deadpool out of the X-Men, allowing him to be arrested along with Russell. The two are given collars to surpress their mutant powers and thrown in prison.

Now incarcerated, the hopeless situation is made worse as without his powers Deadpool's cancer starts up again, although Deadpool just wants to die anyway at this point. Just then Cable (Josh Brolin) breaks in to kill Russell, as in the future Russell will kill Cable's wife and daughter with Cable himself travelling back to prevent this. In the melee Deadpool's collar breaks restoring his powers and he manages to save Russell (a vision of Vanessa telling him he must do so) and escapes, however Russell remains in the prison and makes it a point to befriend the most dangerous prisoner. Cable gets away having stolen Deadpool's skeeball token (his only reminder of Vanessa) as a trophy.

Deciding to extract and protect Russell before Cable can get his hands on him, Deadpool puts together his own mutant team called X-Force.

Unfortunately, in their attempt to release Russell while in transit to a new facility most of the team are messily killed due to their inepititude with the only survivor besides Deadpool being Domino (Zazie Beetz) whose mutant power of extreme good luck helps her take over the truck transporting the prisoner. Unfortunately Cable attacks allowing a disenchanted Russell to escape with his new friend who is none other than Juggernaut (rendered entirely in CGI). Russell heads to his school with Juggernaut intending to kill his headmaster. Cable tells Deadpool that Russell killing his headmaster will start him down a destructive path that leads him to killing anyone in his path. Deadpool negotiates with Cable and is allowed a chance to stop Russell through reason, on the condition that Cable will be allowed to kill Russell if he fails. Needing help, Deadpool appeals to Colossus for forgiveness.

Heading to the school, Russell cuts a swathe of destruction as Juggernaut tries to fight off the X-Force. Just as things start to go badly Colossus, Negasonic and Yukio turn up and use their powers to restrain Juggernaut. When Russell refuses to listen to Deadpool's pleas, Deadpool proves how desperate he is by putting the surpression collar back on. When this also seems to fail, Cable takes a shot at Russell but Deadpool intercepts the bullet. After an extended goodbye and several fake-outs, Deadpool finally dies. Seeing that Russell will no longer become a killer, Cable uses the last of his time travel energy not to return home but instead goes back to the beginning of the fight and puts the skeeball token in the right place to deflect the bullet allowing Deadpool to live. Finally, the headmaster is killed after getting run over by Dopinder who is happy to finally have murdered someone. Cable decides to remain in the present for the time being, and the group head home with Deadpool noting that he's formed a strange kind of family around him.

In a mid-credits scene, Deadpool has Negasonic and Yukio fix Cable's time travel device and heads back to right some wrongs... first he goes back to save Vanessa, then saves one of the X-Force members from having his body dissolved by acid before heading into the events of X-Men Origins: Wolverine and killing the bastardization of his character from that film in front of a confused Logan (portrayed by Hugh Jackman in stock footage). Finally, Deadpool kills Ryan Reynolds before the actor can sign on to Green Lantern.

  • Pooper:
Deadpool kills Ajax after Ajax reveals he cant heal Deapools disfigurations. Deadpool finally reveals himself to Vanessa, who looks past hisdisfigurement and embraces him as Colossus vows to make Deadpool an X-Man someday in the future.

    Long Ending:
Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds), is being drivenwearing hisfull costume by cab-driver Dopinder (Karan Soni) and giving Dopinder ill-advised romantic advice. He gets out on the side of a bridge and jumps over, crashing into an SUV full of gun-men. A large fight breaks out between Deadpool and the convoy of mercenaries following the SUV. Deadpool demands they tell him where Francis is. He finally locates Francis and is about toapprehend himwhen he is interrupted by two members of the X-Men: super-strong metal-skinned Colossus and his young proteacute;geacute; Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand).Their interference allows Francis to escape. Colossus asks Deadpool to join the X-Men, but he refuses and then escapes Colossus clutches.Throughout, Deadpool breaks the fourth wall and tells us his origin story.

Wilson was an elite, extremely deadlyspecial forces soldier who retired to work as a small-time mercenary. He lives a spartan lifestyle hanging out at the mercenary bar run by his good friend Weasel (T.J. Miller). He eventually meets a prostitute named Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) and the pair fall in love and begin living more wholesome lives. Wilson is soon thereafter diagnosed with untreatable cancer throughout his whole body. Though Vanessa begs him to stay with her, Wilson leaves while she is sleeping and enlists with a secret organizationthat promises to cure his cancer and give him super-powers if he will serve as a soldier for them.

Wilson is transported toa hiddenfacility run by maniacal doctor named Ajax (Ed Skrein) and his super-strong enforcer Angel Dust (Gina Carano). Ajax developed a method to activate latent mutant genes within humans using a form of intense torture and genetic manipulation. They then attach a control collar to the subject and force them to be hired assassins. Ajax himself has awoken his mutant genes, developing an inability to feel any pain. They eventually awaken Wilsons mutant genes, wherein he gains anincredible healing ability that heals his cancer. The process also leaves Wilson hideously disfigured, a condition thatAjax brags he can (but wont)cure. Wilson eventually learns that Ajaxs real name is Francis and tries to escape and force Francis to heal his deformities. Francis stops Wilson from escaping(the facility is destroyed in the battle)and seemingly kills him, unaware that Wilson is now virtually immortal.

Wilson eventually recovers from his wounds and reconnects with Weasel. He also moves in with a blind old woman/drug dealer named Blind Al (Leslie Uggams). He is unable to approach Vanessa, concerned that she will be horrified by his disfigured body. Instead, Wilson devotes his life to tracking down Francis(which leads to the opening highway scene). Deadpool is despondent that he was unable to catch Francis and gain his cure. Deadpool learns that after the highway battle, Francis kidnapped Vanessa and is holding her hostage.

Dopinder drives Deadpool, Colossus and Negasonic to a meeting set by Ajax, Angel Dust, and some gun-men. A fight breaks out during which Negasonic and Colossus knock-out Angel Dust and, after giving them a chance to flee,Deadpool kills all the gunmen (except one named Bob). Deadpool and Ajax face off with Deadpool gaining the upper-hand.Ajax then reveals that nobody can cure Wade Wilsons deformities. Colossus gives Deadpool a heroic speech urging Wilson to rise above all that has been done to him and spare Francis life. Deadpool gets bored during the speech and kills Ajax.

Colossus and Negasonic vow to make a still-reluctantDeadpool an X-Man before leaving(and Deadpool promises to try and be more heroic in the future). Vanessa approaches and takes off Deadpools mask to reveal... that he has stapled a picture of Hugh Jackmans face to his own. She rips off this second mask and kisses him as the credits begin to roll.

In the post-credits scene, Deadpool explains the studio is out of money and cant provide a proper post-credit scene. He also announces that Cable will be in the sequel.

    Thanks Evan B!

  • It turns out that when the dad fell asleep at the wheel in the beginning of the movie, he ended up crashing the car into the mysterious lady in white that they kept seeing throughout the movie. This car crash between them killed the entire family instantly (Brad Miller, Richard Harrington, Laura Harrington, Frank Harrington, as well as the lady in white and her little baby daughter). The only one to survive is Marion Harrington, and she is pregnant.

The whole entire drive down that quiet road after the crash was all a nightmare that Marion had and the rest of her family was already dead. But she doesnt know this, it seems like they are still alive and her dream seems so real to her. When, in her dream, it was only Marion left alive, she is confronted with the black car she kept seeing, which is a hearse. The lady in white says to Marion, Hes not here for you as the lady in white gets into the car. Marion then wakes up in the hospital.

The doctor taking care of her was Dr. Helen Marcott. Marion worked that name into her dream from hearing the name, hence the Marcott sign that the family saw and never made it to. So in all, it was basically Death, if you will, coming to claim the familys souls one-by-one. The reason that they seemed to be on the never-ending road is because you can say that it was almost a state of purgatory/limbo that the family would be in until every soul was claimed. When the lady in White is shown at the end, and tells Marion hes not here for her, its her saying that she will live. Then Dr. Marcott meets up with that guy in the black car (who discovered the accident on the road) and told him she liked his car. Hers wouldnt start, so she got a ride from him - becoming his next victim.

But actually the end credits scene show two workers cleaning up the accident and finding the paper that the dad wrote saying the things he wanted to do when it was all over. So then... all that really did happen.

  • Deadpool puts on a power-suppressing collar to persuade Russell to stand down. Cable tries to shoot Russell but Deadpool takes the bullet, and dies. Cable uses the last charge in his time machine to go back and save Deadpools life, using the lead coin he got for Vanessa. Russell spares the headmasters life, who is promptly run over by Dopinder. Cable opts to stay in the present day, now that his wife and child are safe in the future, to try and stop the world deteriorating.

During the credits, Deadpool gets the time machine fixed and goes around fixing the timelines. He goes back and prevents Vanessa dying, then travels to X-Men Origins: Wolverine and kills the awful version of Wade Wilson from that movie (also played by Ryan Reynolds). He finally goes and shoots Ryan Reynolds in the head before he appears in the Green Lantern movie.
