The alternate opening, dubbed the 'Lucky Strike' scene, was storyboarded but not filmed. It would have introduced the crew of the Lewis and Clarke while they were salvaging a ship called the Lucky Strike, with one of its crew members ejected from an airlock and subsequently rescued. The scene was not filmed for budgeting and pacing reasons, but director Paul W.S.
