After promising his new girlfriend Katie that he will quit being Kick-Ass, Dave appears on TV to unmask himself. However, it turns out that DAmicos men have kidnapped Dave and Big Daddy, killed Hit Girl, and are broadcasting their brutal torturing of the two on live TV. They pour gasoline over them and are about to light them on fire when Hit Girl (who survived being shot by Red Mist) comes in and kills all the henchmen, but not before they burn Big Daddy alive. Kick-Ass and Hit Girl break into DAmicos building and slaughter everyone except DAmico and Red Mist. Kick-Ass fights and defeats Red Mist while DAmico fights Hit Girl. DAmico is about to kill Hit Girl, but then Kick-Ass shoots him with a bazooka (yes, a bazooka), blowing him out into the air from a high storey window. Kick-Ass and Hit Girl reveal their secret identities to each other. Hit Girl enrolls at Daves school. Dave quits being Kick-Ass, but what he doesnt know is that Red Mist has vowed revenge for his father...

In Dave's fight with Rasul, he pulls out a taser and hits him in the forehead. This may be a reference to Batman Begins (2005), where, in a scene where Rachael Dawes is startled by Batman, she pulls out a taser and hits him in the chest, but is probably just similar and not a direct reference.
-
In the original comic, Kick-Ass does not get the girl in the end.

Daniel Craig and Mark Wahlberg were considered for the role of Big Daddy, before Nicolas Cage was cast.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Even Peters, Nicolas Cage, and Lyndsy Fonseca all have played roles based on Marvel characters. Taylor-Johnson played Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver as a cameo appearance in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) and then again in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), albeit his character gets a larger role. Peters coincidentally played the same character in the X-Men universe in both X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) and X-Men: Apocalypse (2016). Cage portrayed the part of Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider in Ghost Rider (2007) and then again in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2011). Lyndsy Forseca went on to portray Angie Martinelli in Agent Carter (2015).

According to Mark Millar, the "C-word" moment, in issue three of the comic, ultimately convinced Matthew Vaughn that it was a worthy project.
