Comancheria, the film's original title, is the region of New Mexico, West Texas, and nearby areas occupied by the Comanche before the 1860s.

Dale Dickey and Kevin Rankin, who do not share scenes in this film, also appeared in Breaking Bad (2008) where they also did not share scenes. Both works were filmed in the state of New Mexico. They also appeared together in Claws (2017), where Dickey played the aunt of Rankin.

When the thug threatens Tanner at the gas station and Tanner counters with "Boy, you'd think there were ten of me," it's interesting to note that if you look very closely, you can see Tanner slowly reach for something in the car out of view after the thug pulls his gun out right before Toby intervenes. It's revealed to be Tanner's revolver now in his hand on his lap moments later when Toby opens the passenger side door to get back in which can be briefly yet clearly seen, which is likely why he replies so lackadaisically to Toby when he tells him he could've died considering he indeed likely would've shot the thug first.
