44th President of the United States Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama appear in the beginning of the film. Footage of them was edited in from The 36th Annual Kennedy Center Honors (2013) reception, held in the East Room of the White House in Washington on December 8, 2013. Coincidentally, 'Anna Kendrick (I)' actually did perform at the ceremony that year, as part of a musical tribute to 2013 Honoree 'Shirley MacLaine'.

During the first encounter of the German group DSM with the Bellas, the DSM leader "Kommissar" calls Beca various insulting diminutive names, then she asks her fellow DSM member, "Wie heisst das Wort dass ich meine?" and he replies, "Troll." In English, this would be, "What's the word I want?" or "What's the word I'm looking for?"

During the World Championship, the Canadian, African, Philippines, Indian, and Spanish teams all sing the same song "Any Way You Want It". In addition, the Canadian and Indian teams both perform twice, once in daylight and once at night.
