When Agent 47 and Nika walk through the train station in St. Petersburg, to when Agent 47 is followed underground, the time in which the scenes were filmed switches between March 2007 and November 2007.

The character of Nika (Olga Kurylenko) draws inspiration from a recurring female character from the games known as Lei Ling (changed to 'Mei Ling' in 'Contracts'). Lei/Mei Ling was a prostitute that 47 saved on two occasions, receiving vital information in return.

Xavier Gens had shot a completely different train station platform sequence. It takes place outside the train station, rather than underground, and involves 47 questioning one assassin, rather than engaging three in a sword fight.

Most of the scenes where the action is in Russia were in fact shot in Sofia, Bulgaria. For example, the scene where Belicoff is shot by Agent 47 was shot in front of the Ivan Vazov National Theatre. The scenes shot in the train station were shot in the central train station and the scenes at the church at the end were shot at the largest and most famous cathedral in Bulgaria, the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.
