Allyson (Laurie's granddaughter) has a few of her grandmothers mannerisms. She holds her pen to her mouth while in class the same way Laurie did while in class in the first Halloween. While in the basement (after her mom shoots Michael) she holds her hands over her ears while crying. The same way Laurie did at the end of the original Halloween after Loomis shoots Michael.

Miles Robbins who plays the character of Dave also stared alongside Malcolm McDowell in Mozart in the Jungle. McDowell played Dr. Loomis in the Rob Zombie Halloween films. Side note: Miles Robbins real mother is Susan Sarandon from the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show. In Zombie's Halloween 2 there are three characters (including Laurie) dressed up as characters from The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Production for Halloween 3-D was shut down on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 because The Weinstein Company ran out of money. They had just received the first draft of the screenplay on Friday September 25 and shooting was supposed to start in November to end in time for Director Patrick Lussier to start shooting another film from a prior engagement in January, Drive Angry (2011) with Nicolas Cage. In May of 2014, Todd Farmer confirmed that neither he nor Lussier were involved in the project any longer.

At the School Dance segment, right before Allyson finds Cameron drunk and kissing one a girl dressed like a tiger, the camera shows a student wearing a mask of a traditional Japanese anime girl. It's possible that the mask is a Kigurumi Animegao, which is a popular subculture in Japan amongst cosplayers where a person wears an outfit over a skin-colored zentai or morph suit made of spandex or lycra and a full-head mask that makes them look like an anime character. Due to the mask being a little heavy and not having moving mouth parts, the cosplayer generally has to mime and use sign language for communication, and some utilize chalkboards and whiteboards to communicate as well.

However, the studio decided that they wanted to go back to the roots of the first movie and cast an unknown actress, similar to how Jamie Lee Curtis was cast in the original.
