  • 2 years after the movie's release, a short-lived animated spin-off series TRON: Uprising (2012) aired on Disney X and was a prequel to the movie. The prequel series follows a young program called Beck who was trained as a warrior by Tron who leads a rebellion against Clu and takes on Clu's henchman General Tesler and sets out to free The Grid from Clu. Olivia Wilde and Bruce Boxleitner were the only actors from the movie to return for the animated series and provide the voices of Quorra and Tron. The series was discontinued after 1 season and won a Emmy for it's animation.

Towards the end of the movie, when Rinzler sinks down into the water, his illuminations turn from red to white, and his purring ceases.
